Don't Watch This if You're Flying Soon

This has got to be every air traveler’s nightmare. You’re on a huge airliner, taxiing into position for take-off. You look out the window and spot another huge airliner coming in for a landing, aiming at the spot on the runway currently occupied by you and your plane.
That’s exactly what happened over the weekend at an airport in Barcelona, Spain. An Aerolineas Argentinas Airbus A340 was jockeying into position to take off for Buenos Aires as a UTair Boeing 767 inbound from Moscow was about to land.
At the last minute, the UTair pilots pulled up, averting an almost certain disaster. Officials at the airport said that both planes were exactly where they were supposed to be, and the Russian plane could have landed safely.
Maybe those officials should look at the video again. Better yet, let them get on a plane headed for Argentina – let’s see how that works out.
