This is one of the weirdest stories I’ve stumbled upon lately.
Writer producer actor director Tyler Perry has trademarked the phrase “What Would Jesus Do?” for entertainment purposes. This comes after an almost six-year court battle with another producer who filed for the trademark a few months before Tyler, and alleges that she even told Tyler about it before he filed for the trademark himself.
In order to maintain the trademark, Tyler’s got to use it, or it will be considered abandoned and someone else can file to use it.
Let’s hope this doesn’t turn into “What Would Jesus Do, Madea?”
That will surely be the death knell of the entertainment industry.
