Wicked 10K
October 25th                          
Run for your life!! J&A Racing brings you the Anthem Wicked 10K and Old Point National Bank Monster Mile presented by Bon Secours in Motion on October 25th in Virginia Beach. This event is Hampton Road’s largest Halloween race and party with over 10,000 participants. The event has become an annual favorite with locals and visitors and participants are encouraged to have fun, be creative, and dress up for the Halloween season. The 10k course takes you along the beautiful Virginia Beach Oceanfront and has participants running through a zombie zone and past live thriller dancers. This exciting event kicks off on Friday, October 24th with the Sports & Fitness Expo in the beautiful Virginia Beach Convention Center, and concludes on Saturday afternoon, October 25th with a huge post-race party on the beach

The Youth Movement (TWP) will host the 7th annual fundraiser gala and silent auction from 6:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. Saturday, November 1st, at the Norfolk Waterside Marriott Hotel. Teens With a Purpose guests will enjoy a celebratory evening complete with an elegant sit-down dinner, dancing, and a silent auction led by Mistress of Ceremony Nicole Livas Anchor WAVY-TV 10. Surf-n-Santa

Take a break from the bustle of the holiday season and join J&A Racing for an evening of joy and wonder at the Surf-n-Santa 5 Miler presented by Bon Secours In Motion, a twilight race under the holiday lights along the beautiful Virginia Beach boardwalk.  J&A Racing are known for their fun and festive events as participants are encouraged to have fun, be creative, and dress up for the holiday season. A costume contest awards great prizes for the best naughty or nice holiday costume.  The 5 Miler features a flat and fast course through the twinkling holiday lights displays along the Virginia Beach boardwalk. All participants receive a unique medal, long sleeve technical shirt, a finisher’s item and access into the Rockin’ post race party in the Virginia Beach Convention Center. The post-race party will feature live music, Samuel Adams Beer; and warm soup in a bread boule. Come and join us for a night to remember.

Easton is an incredible 9 year old boy who happens to have Down Syndrome.  He has great difficulty processing new situations causing him severe anxiety which leads to his withdrawal from his social environment.  As a Navy family, we move every few years forcing Easton to constantly readjust to new environments.  It pains us to watch him struggle to find balance and engage in his new surroundings. A recent family trip to Washington D.C. lead to our encounter with another family that had a service dog.  In just the short time we interacted with them, Easton bonded with the service dog and his social anxieties were lowered allowing him to experience new wonders. 


Volunteers all over the state, from Hampton Roads to Northern Virginia, from the Eastern Shore to the Shenandoah Valley, work by land and boat to give the Bay a massive spring cleaning every year. Elected officials, their staffs, enlisted men and women, scout groups, churches, small businesses, large corporations and thousands of individuals and families will turn out for this year's Clean the Bay Day.Would you like to host a cleanup in your area in 2014? Four RMHC/African American Future Achievers Scholarship
                Total – Five $4,500 scholarships funded by our local Hampton Roads McDonald’s owners of the Tidewater McDonald’s Association, Inc. and matching funds from RMHC Global
Scholarships must be designated for graduating high school seniors
Scholarship applicants* for all RMHC programs must:
• Live within a participating Chapter’s geographic boundaries.
• Be a legal U.S. resident.
• Be less than 21 years of age.
• Carry a minimum 2.7 GPA.
• Be eligible to enroll and attend an institution of higher education or a vocational/technical school.
• Disclose other scholarship programs for which he/she has applied.
• Plan to enroll at an accredited post-secondary education institution during the academic year following their graduation.
• Complete and submit a scholarship application online and send required supporting materials and documentation to ISTS postmarked no later than January 21, 2014.
• Be willing to provide additional verification of all information in the scholarship application, upon request.

Eligibility

The program is open to students who are currently high school juniors and seniors who demonstrate:

Leadership, by serving in leadership positions in school, church, or community organizations.

Community Service, by volunteering their spare time to help those in need and providing support to local groups, businesses, and neighborhood organizations.

Scholarship, by maintaining at least a “B” average (3.0 grade point average on a 4.0 scale), and by having applied or are planning to apply to an accredited college or university.

Character, by setting a good example for their peers, maintaining a positive attitude, and exhibiting qualities of good citizenship, high moral character, and ethical behavior.

Geographic Eligibility, by attending high school in one of the counties or independent cities served by the McDonald’s® of the Hampton Roads area of Virginia. Those counties and independent cities include southeastern Virginia and northeast North Carolina.

 

Applicants Must Be:

·         An hourly McDonald’s® restaurant employee working at least 15 hours per week.

·         Employed at a Tidewater Co-op McDonald’s® restaurant for a minimum of six months.

·         A high school junior or senior during the 2013 – 2014 academic year.

·         Planning to attend a two or four-year accredited college, university, vocational or technical school or any other educational program designed to further their life skills during the 2014 – 2015 academic year.

·         Employed by McDonald’s® at the time scholarship monies are awarded.

·         Residents of the Tidewater area.

·         3.0 GPA or above
